PTR, known as Paid to Read has been around for nearly a decade if not longer. The original concept was simple, you opt in to receive email adverts and are paid a small pittance to read the advert and visit the advertisers site.
Along came forums, made as a gathering place for people belonging to or interested in PTR programs, to share information such as good and bad experiences.
Originally, it worked well to warn others of bad programs (meaning programs who won't pay you) and to save prospective members time, energy , money and headache of being taken for a ride.
However, as with many things today, there are always a group of people who through their actions ruin it for others.
One site has decided that they have all the answers and will boycott PTR programs, which is ok if the reason is for lack of payment. In this instance though the people that frequent that forum and others like it, have decided they know what is best for everyone else involved.
Beware, as they have resorted to becoming the justice crusaders who will go to payment sources such as Paypal and affiliate programs of program owners who dare speak out against the bias treatment of some programs.
As a heads up, there are programs out there that do pay but are listed as scam sites because the PTR crusaders do not like specific program owners.
Just as in life, visit the forums for information but make sure to keep an open mind as some of the posters that are regulars have very tainted views and do not like to be disagreed with.
PTR is a place where some pocket change can be made, but one must become knowledgeable about which sites to join and which sites to avoid. Much is common sense when joining. If you see a site selling ads to 1000 people to visit for a cent each, and sell the ad for 50 cents you know the site will not have enough to pay members.
Looking for others views on PTR and the Forums who are supposedly there to protect members but are in actuality created to make money off unsuspecting members.
